The benefits and tradeoffs of 200-micron vs. 250-micron fiber
What we will discuss:
The impact of coating diameter on cable density and splicing
How rollable ribbon architectures is transforming fiber packing efficiency
Steve Born is the Director of Product Management at Superior Essex, where he leads product strategy and development across the company’s communications cable portfolio. Steve has more than 29 years of telecommunications experience spanning copper and optical fiber cabling, product development, and applications engineering.
Steve has held multiple technical and leadership roles at Superior Essex and has contributed to TIA standards development for more than a decade. Earlier in his career, he designed telecommunications systems for healthcare, research, and high-containment laboratory facilities.
He holds the BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) credential and brings a combination of technical expertise, market knowledge, and product leadership to the communications infrastructure industry.
Participants will also learn best practices for mass fusion splicing, compatibility considerations between ribbon architectures, and how to select the right fiber solutions for space-constrained, hyperscale, metro, and enterprise network environments.
