Traditional methods for supplying power with copper building wire work well in terms of power delivery, but have historically shown limitations in reach, smart features, and ease of installation.

Power over Ethernet, especially with extended distance ethernet cables has allowed for increased distance to support some of these applications, although some gaps still exist.
